Trillion Dollar Maritime Opportunities

Cool to arrive at the Terminal as early as 6am this morning for a first hand assessment of operations. Nigeria would be interesting when we finally get to achieve the single window and 48hour clearing system.

Africa’s ports sector is experiencing reforms, expansion and is booming, projects are under way throughout the continent. Thanks to growing trade and investments! These projects would assist in connecting the entire African region to international markets, and help propel the countries’ economies.

Investment in port projects in Africa will exceed US$10 billion with increased competition. As imports and exports grow, increased capacity is an urgent requirement. Transport infrastructure (road, rail, waterways, free trade zones etc) would expand leading to further challenges in regional integration.

Shipping and marine industry plays a vital role and is the backbone of the world economy. Without ships and the transportation services, the world wouldn’t be as prosperous as it is today and many countries would not be able to participate in world trade. Shipping has proven to be a growth industry in recent years witnessing an increase in gross tonnage of the world fleet by millions of tonnage every year.

These developments make the shipping and transport industry so complex, yet so exciting to work in. Managing these challenges requires a thorough understanding of specialized knowledge domains.

There are significant opportunities driven by PEOPLE to help these developments achieve their full potential and ensure sustainability. As interesting as it sounds, when Government, industry experts, market leaders, Port Authorities, Port & Terminal Operators, Banks & Investors, Port Equipment & Technology Suppliers, Shipping Lines, Marine Service, Legal & Insurance Firms, Exporters and Freight Forwarders hold strategic meetings, you aren’t’ always invited.
